WE all know it is Valentine’s Day…

tomorrow, so that will mean a slew of romantic songs - from the classics to new love songs, we will be inundated with sounds that celebrate love and togetherness. Whilst I think it would be better to have a universal Valentine’s Day – throwing love at the world and those without others in their lives -, we have to endure another day of smoochy, cheesy love songs. There are many of us – myself included – who sit Valentine’s Day out as we are single; it is another day to us but, rather irksomely, there is an added element of rubbing things in. To honour those who are tired of the same love songs being played this time each year, I have compiled a list of edgier/alternative love songs and cuts that rally against love altogether. Some might find that combative and bitter – true enough! – but it is nice to speak for those without love and those not invited to the prom this year.
